Silver Team FAQ

When are Silver Team tryouts?
Monday April 6th- Friday April 10th

Who can try-out for Silver Team?
 Any current 6th and 7th grader male and females attending DCIS-Montbello, NCAS-Montbello, DSST, or Florida Pitt Waller. Students attending other schools must contact the coach for case-by-case approval.
 
Can incoming 6th graders (current 5th graders) try-out for Silver Team?
Only upon approval from the Coach. Green Valley Giant Cheerleaders are automatically approved to try-out.   
 
Do I have to have cheerleading experience?
No. Although experience is a plus, we will teach you everything you need to know for try-outs!
 
How long is the Silver Team season?
The season runs year-round. Silver team cheerleaders practice during the summer to get ready for competition and Flag football season, they also cheer for flag football, boys and girls basketball, and Futures Tackle Football. 
 
When does the Silver Team practice?
Silver team will practice a minimum of 1 time per week and a maximum of 4 times per week (not including additional competitive practices).
 
How much does the season cost?
The uniform cost is approximately $160 dollars. Other costs include competition fees and optional tumbling fees. 
 
Are there any fundraising opportunities?
Currently there are not. Check back later for any updates.
 
Can a Silver Team Member participate in other sports?
Yes, if it is approved by the coach. A variety of factors are considered such as grades, practice attendance, and behavior when making this decision. Cheerleading must still remain the top priority. 
 
I am interested in being a team-mom, how do I go about it?

What do I do if my child did not make the team?
Contact Coach Mamie about some tips to get ready for the following season.
 
Why isn't my child Captain?
There are a variety of components looked for in a cheerleader when searching for captains. Making the team is only half of the battle.
